Summer Book Club

While it is nice to be outside all day, everyday, it is also important to keep reading and brush up on our third grade skills over the summer. I know it is hard when the weather is so nice and school has just gotten out, but it is important and will really help you have a successful start to your year in fourth grade! Don't forget to practice your multiplication and division facts this summer too! You'll need to know those for fourth grade!

I thought it would be fun to start a summer, online book club! We could all, if you choose to participate, read a book and set deadlines for how much we should read and when it should be read by. Then every week, we could blog about what we read. I will post questions for you to respond to and we can have a conversation about the book. This may make reading more enjoyable this summer because you can talk to others about it and/or ask questions about something you were unsure of.

What do you think? We could vote on what books we would all like to read if you are interested in participating. Obviously you won't be getting a grade for this, so if you decide you don't want to blog about the book, just let me know. I just thought this might be a fun and easy way to keep you reading and writing during the summer and might make it a more enjoyable experience for you.

Click on the Orange "Comment" button below this post and let me know if you'd be interested in being a part of this book club. Also, include which of the following books you'd like to read this summer, we may read more than one book:

1. Double Fudge by Judy Blume (the sequel to Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing)
2. The BFG by Roald Dahl
3. Mr. Popper's Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater
4. Because of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo
5. Frindle by Andrew Clements
6. Knights of the Kitchen Table by Jon Scieszka
